Citation Linker

Citation Linker is used to locate articles with known citation information. This is often the case when searching for an article found on a reference page, bibliography, or a previous search.

Accessing Citation Linker

Citation Linker can be accessed from the left menu of the library home page under research tools. The default is to search by article, but there is also an option to search by journal title.

Using Citation Linker

Enter your article information in the search boxes. Journal Title is a required field and offers three search options, as found in the drop down menu. Options are begins with, searching from the left of the box going right; contains, searching each word in the box in any order; and exact match, searching for every word in the order it is entered.

After entering as much information as you can in the respective boxes, click GO to perform the search. A window will open with a list of search results. Determine which result is a match for your journal; click the title of the journal to open another window giving you its availability online and/or in print. If a full text version is available, clicking GO or the journal title will bring you to that article. If full text is not available, follow the link to determine its availability in CENTRA. The record in CENTRA will provide information about which issues CMU owns in available formats.

If CMU does not have access to this journal, additional services are listed on the previous availability screen. These may include more information in Ulrich’s, Interlibrary Loan, or Ask a Librarian.

Keep in mind that login may be necessary from off campus locations for full text. If prompted, this would be your global id and password.

If you have any questions, talk with a Reference Librarian at the Central Michigan University Library system.
