Fourth Floor Exhibition Area
About the Fourth Floor Exhibition Area:
The Fourth Floor Exhibition Area features Anishinabe Art from the Collection of Ms. Olga Denison. Ms. Denison’s interest in Anishinabe Art flourished through her involvement with the Mount Pleasant Federated Women’s Club, which for thirty years held fundraising events for indigenous artists where their crafts and art were sold.
Ms. Denison said, “I am constantly amazed at how they make such decorative and beautiful art from things in the environment like stones, shells, and porcupine quills.”
The items exhibited on the Fourth Floor are made of such materials as alabaster, wood, birch bark, hickory bark, and porcupine quills, and showcases the sculptural, woven and ceramic craft of the Anishinabe artist.
Ms. Denison graduated from Central Michigan University in 1940.
