Theatre of the Absurd, Open Video Art Exhibition

The Theatre of the Absurd (TOTA) is a newly founded new-art-collaborative RSO interested in creating and promoting new media artwork like video and performance art will have an open exhibition of video art in the Extended Study Hours Room of the Park Library October 2nd through the 28th.  The exhibition is open to new submissions until October 19.  Submissions are open to everyone. Videos must be in AVI or MOV format, less than 15 minutes in total length (exceptions may be made for exceptional pieces,) and accompanied by a brief two or three sentence statement of artistic intent. Submissions will be accepted at every weekly meeting of TOTA up to the 19th of October. If you cannot be present to submit, e-mail roy1cc@cmich.edu to arrange for another meeting time.  Accepted submissions will be added throughout the exhibit.  Submissions will be accepted on CD and flash drive. No e-mail or youtube entries will be accepted.  Videos will be selected for the exhibition each week by an open jury process at the meeting.  Artists are invited and encouraged to attend.

Faiths around the World

Faith around the World will feature photographs taken by CMU Senior Jillian Pekel.  Ms. Pekel is a photojournalism major and honors student, and is currently the Photo Editor for Grand Central magazine.  Her photographs examine different religions and faith practices around the world for which she has traveled as far as Japan to photograph the Shinto and Buddhist religions, as well as Vatican City to capture images of Catholicism.  The goal of this exhibition is to show the differences and similarities in which people around the world commune with their Gods.
