Course Reserves and Copyright Services
Welcome to the CMU Libraries’ Course Reserve and Copyright Services home page. We are here to assist you with information about placing material on course reserve and how to use the material once it is on reserve. We will be happy to answer questions you have related to course reserves, copyright and copyrighted works.
Important Announcement -- Beginning on June 28, 2010, the CMU Library will begin offering a university-wide copyright clearance service for all faculty. Charges associated with using copyrighted materials in the classroom will be paid and assistance given to all faculty who wish to place materials on electronic reserve. More information is available here.
Locating Material on Reserve:
If your instructor has placed material on reserve in the library, it can be found at the Course Reserves desk located in the Mary Dow Reading Room on the third floor of the Park Library. Below are things to know when using reserve items in the library:
- You must have your CMU ID or a guest borrower card in order to use course reserve material
- You will be asked to provide the course subject and number of your class or the name of the instructor
- Reserve Desk policies, including information about loan periods and overdue charges
If your instructor has placed an item on electronic reserve, it will be available through the Blackboard course shell for that particular class.
Placing Material on Reserve:
If you are a faculty member, you may place an item or items on reserve. You can view a short tutorial on how to do this here.
